D-01 Wonderful sixth plate daguerreotype
of a pretty red-haired girl circa 1846. The
artist used a flat lighting from a large
window directly behind him. The light
background against her wan face makes for
a very light and glowing photograph. I
broke the ancient seals to clean the filthy
cover glass and found a beautiful plate with
just the right amount of tarnish. There are
scattered spots that are a little distracting,
but for the most part you will find this a very
pleasing image. The remnants of the old
seals are included in the back of the case,
and I have re-sealed the package with
archival P-90 tape. Presented in half of an
early geometric paper and leather case.
